Improve Your Home Page
Website home pages are often wordy and cluttered. First, improve your home page by eliminating non-essential information that might distract website visitors.
Next, improve your website user experience with these five tips.
1. Add a clear call to action above the fold
Lead website visitors to a single action (next step) you want them to take and highlight it above the fold, preferably with a noticeable button, e.g., Call Now, Download Content, Subscribe to Email.
2. Use a bulleted list to describe what you do
Get rid of the long introduction, and create short, easy to scan phrases that describe your products/services and your competitive advantage
3. Make sure your design looks good on mobile
You don’t have to use the same content flow for mobile and desktop viewing. Ensure the content flows well on mobile and the call to action is prominent at the top.
4. Collect email addresses
Encourage people to join your email list and extend the conversation. Consider a special offer to increase subscriptions, e.g., discount, content.
5. Put contact information in the footer
If you have a physical office or store make sure your name, address, and phone number are in the footer so they are easily found.
While you’re editing the home page make sure the page is well optimized for search. Check the load time of the page and file size of images, and consider updating SEO meta descriptions, title tags, headings, and image alt text.
